Our ultimate goal at High Sierra is to develop the Aussie breed to meet the standard of being mentally and physically capable of fulfilling their potential, whether its in the show ring or as a pet who is much loved by their forever families. Because good genetics are so important to ensure structural soundness and a good temperament in a healthy dog, we strive to do all that we can to ensure that our dogs get the optimal healthcare they need for themselves and their future litters.
It’s been very important to us to develop and maintain a life-long relationship with our clients who have purchased puppies from us in the past. It’s been great to keep in touch with everyone to see how their pups are developing, and also its exciting to see how that pup has fitted into their family and how they are exploring the versatility of the Aussie breed. That’s the beautiful thing about Aussies, they are extremely intelligent and want to please, because that’s what makes them happy, and that’s why we love the breed.

Australian Shepherd Dog Breed Information (akc.org)
My wife and I had the pleasure of working with Beth Ipsen when we were looking for an Australian Shepherd for our son who had recently graduated from college. After my initial conversation with Beth I was immediately struck by what a warm and outgoing person she is. Beth walked us through the entire process of choosing our puppy, and made us feel very welcome in her home on the day we picked up Koda. Beth made the entire experience of choosing a new member of our family comfortable, relaxing, and fun. She is so knowledgeable about the breed and is very willing to share any information she has with potential buyers. I would highly recommend High Sierra Aussies to anyone looking for an Australian Shepherd. Beth is one of the kindest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting, and we now consider her a part of our extended family. Respectfully, Peter Landry
I have never experienced a breeder that allows the new puppy owners the opportunity to meet and hold their puppy before his eyes are even open. This was a wonderful experience and the next time I visited, he could see me too, but I also felt like he knew me. The visits continued and by the time I was able to take him home, there was no crying, or separation anxiety.
Merle goes just about everywhere with me, even to work. I Manage a Farm Supply Store and he has become the official greeter. When someone comes in, I say to him; “Merle, greet the customer.” He then walks around the counter, sits at their feet and offers a paw to shake hands. Yes, he even uses his right paw.
I can’t imagine my life without Merle now. I got him one year after my husband passed away from cancer, that was a very tough year, along with all of the covid restrictions, I really needed companionship and Merle filled that void.
I have been lucky enough to get two Australian Shepherds from Beth. My first dog Tieds was the smartest dog I’ve ever owned and he was very faithful to me, but still very loving to other dogs and people. Tieds was never one to miss out going for a ride on the motorcycle, and he could not wait to bring the horses into the barn. He has passed away, but he is missed every day!
My second dog from Beth is Luke, who has been a great comfort to the soul! He would make a great therapy dog for a hospital or a nursing home. I live on a farm and have never had to worry about him ever wandering away or taking advantage of the barn cats. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would highly recommend Aussies as a 10!
My hubby and I have been brought up with dogs, raised dogs, lived with dogs our whole life. Awhile after our last Lab had passed, I was so yearning for a pup, and then I stumbled across a picture of the most beautiful thing in the world. I just had to have one of those pups. I found the breeder (BETH) of that beautiful animal that I saw on FB, and begged to have one. Beth said that she had two only left of the litter, and that there was a young couple who were in route to pick out the pup they wanted, so I would get the last pup of the litter. To us she would have been our very first pick. Our one and only first Aussie!!
If we got a $100 for every time someone would tell us how beautiful our dog was, we would be multi- millionaires. We are praying so hard she will never leave us and instead outlive us, if not, we will always get another Aussie from Beth.
There are several words to describe our most precious Aussie, but the top three must be, SMART, LOYAL, and ENTERTAINING.
SMART. She knows words beyond your comprehension. Our Aussie loves stuffed animals, and we have names for all of them, and she knows them all by name. She will retrieve them upon command by their names alone. It’s amazing. When she is excited she will always have one of them in her mouth.
LOYAL. She is by our side at all times, she is our shadow in every move we make.
ENTERTAINING. If you have never been greeted by an Aussie before, it is the cutest thing in the world. They greet you with a sidewinding walk which will eventually be the greeting of their behind.
Our family is beyond appreciative of Beth and all that she has done for us. We came into contact her while reading the newspaper shortly after the loss of our family dog of 10 years. We’ve never owned an Aussie or any other herding breed, but Beth did an incredible job of answering all of our questions because she is very knowledgeable, experienced and reputable with this breed. We had such a great experience adopting our first Aussie pup February 2018, who is named Scarlet, that we decided to contact Beth again shortly after, and ultimately adopted another pup January of 2019, and he is named Teddy. Both of our dogs have incredible temperaments, love other children and dogs, and have an incredible drive to learn and please us. We are so grateful that we came across Beth because we have two of the sweetest and most loving dogs
